In June 2023, our friend and beloved colleague Alex White passed away from meningitis. In his memory, we have established the Alex White Memorial Fund. This fund aims to support students who share Alex's passion for data science and process safety.

Alex joined Empirisys in 2022 and quickly made a profound impact with his exceptional problem-solving skills and dedication. Despite facing personal challenges, Alex's enthusiasm for his work and his generous spirit left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.

The Alex White Memorial Fund provides a grant of up to £4,000 to support associated costs for our student internship at Empirisys HQ in Cardiff. Each year, we select one student whose studies focus on the intersection of data science and process safety. We particularly encourage applications from neurodiverse students, reflecting Alex's own journey and the inclusive environment we strive to foster.

For the 2025 application form, we encourage applicants to detail their background, their enthusiasm for data science and process safety, and explain why they believe they would be a good match for Empirisys.

We look forward to supporting the next generation of data scientists who will continue Alex's legacy of excellence and innovation.
